“DRIVING MISS DAISY is a total delight.” – NY Daily News.
Driving Miss Daisy tells the warm-hearted and humorous story of the unexpected relationship between a stubborn Southern matriarch and her soft spoken chauffeur. Set in 1948 Georgia, the story revolves around Daisy Werthan, a 72 year old widow who is reluctant to accept the help of the compassionate Hoke Colburn, who has been hired by her son to drive her around. She eventually gives in and over the span of decades, their relationship transforms from one of necessity to companionship. This iconic tale of pride, changing times and the power of genuine friendship has warmed the hearts of millions. From its landmark Off-Broadway production in 1987 to the remarkable success of the Oscar-winning film version (4 Academy Awards, including Best Picture), the Mayfield Dinner Theatre is proud to present this Pulitzer Prize winning play that has become one of the most beloved stories of the late twentieth century.
